Frequently Asked Questions

Where does most of your funding come from?

You!! We currently receive most of our funding from individual donations—along with revenue from our BTB store. We are also apply for grants and partnerships to help fund youth adventures.

How much of my donation goes toward the program?

100%

Is there anything that you wish more people knew about your organization or the issues you are trying to solve?

We started this non-profit business for two big reasons: to do our part in shaping our future youth into successful adults and to help increase conservation efforts to preserve our natural world.

Conservation efforts must be made as the future of land and wildlife conservation is at major risk. For instance, wildlife agencies are heavily dependent on sportsmen for funding and money generated from license fees and excise taxes on guns, ammunition and angling equipment provide about 60 percent of the funding for these agencies, which manage most of the wildlife in the U.S. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer people purchase licenses every year. As hunting and fishing participation decreases so does public land/wildlife conservation.

Can parents tag along?

We encourage it! Depending on the availability of gear and resources, we would love to have a parent or guardian join us to learn and make memories with their kids.

What certifications do our guides hold?

All guides are First Aid/CPR/AED certified while some also have advanced medical training with ACLS/PALS/BLS. Additionally, all guides have valid drivers licenses and current hunting/fishing licenses and permits.

How many participants per trip? Is there a guide/chaperone to youth ratio?

Depends on the trip. On average, our trips involve 2-4 participants with a ratio of 1:2 (guide to participant). Some trips are more one-on-one.

I’m interested in volunteering, but I am not sure if I would qualify.

Contact us by phone or email for any inquires. We love to meet new people who have the same goals.

Which outdoor adventures are taken? Anything excluded?

Included: Hunting, fishing, bowfishing, kayaking, hiking, camping, backpacking.

Excluded: Any activity not listed above. (e.g. rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking.)

What do the experience levels (level-I/II/III) mean?

We want every participant to be able to do any experience they wish. With that said, we’ve learned from experience that some activities are more challenging—both mentally and physically—than others. Some experiences do require a prerequisite trip to help gauge and establish things like a participants ability level, understanding of safety, and help us get to know and trust each individual. This helps us mitigate risk and make trips most enjoyable for all parties involved.
